"This picture represents a child who is the victim of child abuse. I wanted the boy to be in a an anonymous hall way to make him seem vulnerable as he has no sanctuary or place to hide. I wanted the viewer to imagine the person who has inflicted this pain as the unseen is more powerful. I feel the door is symbolic as its function is two fold : as it keeps the house safe from the outside world and it also keeps the outside world from knowing what is going on inside the household."
